Characters

Finally done with one character. Our plan is to have three all together. While this is proving hard it's still fun, we just all have to work together. Although we're not sure if three is exactly how many we want or need it looks like that will be the max. only time will tell in this race against graduation.

Video

The class watched a video today. It was about most of the tools in flash. He showed how most of them work and what the tools look like. Hopefully these common sense tutorials can help in the future.

RPG

Role playing games also known as RPG's are my favorite type of games out there. Leveling up and obtaining weapons and armor to customize your character. Many flash games are like this were you start off with a stick and cloth clothing. Eventually your wearing massive armor and swinging a giant claymore around at the enemy.

The flash game "Sonny" reminds me of such games. You start off with a blind man named Louis. The fighting is like that of the best RPG series ever created called "Final Fantasy." My personal favorite is "Final Fantasy 7" were you can do the one downfall to "Sonny," walk. The battle sequence is similar were the player and the enemy take turns attacking each other, and at the end of the battle you odtain experience to which you can learn new abilities.

"Sonny" in my opinion has nothing near the "stuff" to over play "Final Fantasy" but it is a fun and easy game to get into. The only thing "Sonny" lacks is being able to actually move around. As far as the battle sequence the creator did a very good job. Hopefully my time in Globaloria can give me enough experience to try to do something similar so everyone can have as much fun as I do with these types of games.

Still Creating

Another whole day working on the characters for the game. Its getting harder to come up with different styles and characteristics. While the other members of the group do the wiki work I try to do game work. It should start getting easier now.

Working On Characters

After two days of work we have one character finished. Its harder now to find out how to draw the other characters. The challenge will be fun.

Filming

At the end of the period we filmed our paper prototype. It turned out pretty good, but needs more work. Hopefully now we can stick to using the drawing pad and flash to actually start on the game. As pointless as it seems to do a paper prototype to begin with it's actually very helpful.

The Drawing Pad

At the beginning of the day I was playing with the drawing pad. It is so much easier to draw on it rather than on paint. After working on the hand eye cordination needed to use this contraption it's preety intense.

Still Drawing

We are still drawing up pictures for our prototype. It's getting harder trying to draw what we're thinking because there's three of us. I'm am working on pictures in paint while the others try their best to draw my sketches on paper. We believe it will be a great finished product and we can't wait to start actually working on it.

Paper Prototype

We started on our paper prototype. We have our loading screen picture and the next two slides for our game ready. While drawing isn't really the complicating part the ideas are. Yet we still have the main ideas together and ready to be put on paper.

Outline

We typed up on an outline how we wanted the game to play out and how things work. Now comes the hard part getting everything set up and laid out.

Teams

We have been seperated from the rest of the class and are now in groups. We have decided to call ourselves the ultimate avengers. To show our strength as a team and our creative minds. Now its time for business to begin.

Flash Drawing

I created a flash drawing today. Its not professional but its a good and funny start. Hopefully I can maybe one day finish that drawing into a game that isn't blocked by the school so people can play it.

Getting my Bunny to move

It's not an easy job trying to get your game to work right. Codes and I don't mix well. Yet I keep trying to succeed in this particular class for the simple fact that this is my future (hopefully) so I have to duck my head and run through.

Finally Getting Started

Today we finally started using flash. Its seems like it will extremely hard to get used to but it will come in handy. So far its not very fun but when we get to start all our own things it should come together nicely.

Gathering Info

Today I played september 12th and Katrina: Tempest In Cresent City. Both of these games are entertaining and thoughtful. I liked how September 12th had the environmental damage depending on where the bomb hit the buildings and people. Katrina had a cool and also sad plot which pulls players into the story line and show what you would go through for a family member.

My names andrew and since I was a kid I always wanted to create my own animated world. Now my dream can come true being in the globaloria class. Hopefully I can create something fun and helpful by the end of this school year.
